Any deck or flat surface sitting above living space in Wynantskill, NY needs reliable waterproofing to keep moisture out of the structure underneath. Skyridge Roofing installs commercial-grade waterproofing membranes that shield the deck surface, the framing below it, and any rooms underneath from the long-term damage water intrusion can cause.
Rain hitting a deck surface in Wynantskill, NY means constant exposure to moisture, and without a proper waterproofing system, that water finds its way through board gaps, around fastener holes, and through tiny surface cracks down into the framing and whatever sits below. On ground-level decks, this steady moisture speeds up wood decay and rusts out fasteners over the years. On decks built above garages, living areas, or other occupied spaces, that same water leads straight to interior damage and expensive structural fixes.
Basic deck sealers only offer limited protection and need to be reapplied every year, but the waterproofing membranes Skyridge installs form one continuous, tough layer across the whole surface that keeps water out for years at a time. The membrane bonds directly to the substrate, spans small cracks and movement joints, and is built to flex with the deck's natural expansion and contraction without splitting or peeling away.
Skyridge chooses the right waterproofing system by looking at the deck's substrate material, how well it drains, how much foot traffic it gets, and what the finished surface needs to look like. We offer both trafficable systems for decks people walk on regularly and non-trafficable options for surfaces that see little pedestrian use.
Liquid-applied membranes are the go-to solution for most residential deck waterproofing jobs in Wynantskill, NY. Because the material is applied wet and molds itself to the shape of the substrate before curing into one unbroken membrane, there are no seams left behind to fail later on. In high-stress spots like corners, wall junctions, and structural joints, we reinforce the membrane with embedded fabric for extra strength.
For decks that see regular foot traffic, we use coatings that combine solid waterproofing with a textured finish that adds grip in wet weather. These come in a variety of colors and textures so the deck looks good while staying protected. Decks positioned above garages or other high-load areas may call for heavier vehicular-rated membranes depending on what the space is used for.
How well the surface is prepped before application has the biggest impact on how the system performs over time. Skyridge starts with a deep clean to strip away dirt, algae, and any leftover coating residue, then repairs cracks, spalled areas, and other substrate issues, allowing full cure time before any membrane goes down.
We apply the waterproofing system in the number of coats the manufacturer specifies, allowing proper cure time between each layer. We check coverage rates throughout to make sure the dry film thickness holds up everywhere, including corners and transition points that are easy to shortchange with a rushed job. Once the system passes inspection, we return the surface to service and issue a warranty covering the completed work.
